From the interview with Su Burcu Yazgi Coskun
You have three names called Su Burcu Yazgi, everyone has asked why.
In fact, all my names are very beautiful, but Yazgi (which literally means Destiny) is not very common in many people. In fact, I didn’t meet a person named Yazgi. That’s why Yazgi feels more like ‘Rihanna’, the only one.
What was your childhood like? You were on the sets while most kids were running a ball in the street.
As you said, I actually spent my childhood on the set. I grew up on the set, I can say that I was trained there. Off the set, I’ve always been interested in art. I got acquainted with every branch of art little by little. For example, I danced and I still dance. I took some lessons; I did a little bit of ballet. I also took some flamenco lessons, and I danced hip-hop. I also had a little bit of an interest in music; I took guitar lessons for a while, and I played the small piano…
You say that you has touched every branch of art, right?
Yes, yes. I stepped in a little bit. In fact, there is a very funny thing like this. At one point, I took singing lessons at a music association, but the people attending there were not my peers at all, they were people I could call aunts and uncles. I went to Turkish Classical Music concerts with them, and it was very funny. But as I said, these were short-term trainings. In general, I spend my time in acting. Then I went into the theater department in fine arts, so that I could swallow stage dust. I’ve always been interested in art.
But what was your reason for continuing with acting?
The acting was different. I knew I had to move on from here.
They say that this sector is difficult; it is ruthless. Capricious people, injustices, psychological violence... Have you been exposed to such a situation?
Of course, there were difficulties. I think it’s like that in all jobs, I don’t think it’s industry-specific. I also started early, which helped me a lot. I didn’t suddenly find myself in something. I didn’t suddenly become like a fish out of water because I was always trained in this sector. I have seen that starting my acting career very early contributed a lot to me. It has contributed a lot to my character, to my personal life. For example, I have never drawn red lines for myself. You know, as they say, “don’t cry in public, don’t show your emotions so much, don’t show that you’re so weak.” It never happened to me, for example, I learned to look at it from a wider perspective. I was trained in this business, it contributed a lot to me, albeit with all its difficulties.
Was there a scene that you had difficulty playing? Or a specific scene that comes to mind that you can't forget?
In general, there are always difficult scenes because we shoot drama. We often have difficulties due to external factors. I don’t laugh a lot on stage. I can never stand Cüneyt Mete alone. There may have been some scenes with him that I couldn’t shoot.
You are also a person with high energy individually. Do you have a life motto on which this energy is based?
I’m very young right now. I’m very much at the helm of everything. I am very curious about life, I have a lot of goals. For example: In my profession, of course. Especially to advance in acting and cinema.
Is there a name that you think 'I would love to play with one day'?
I guess I can’t name a single name.
Are there any things you think about other than drama?
In fact, I want to try them all, but I would love to play a character, especially one who has a psychological disorder.
You are in a very strong position on social media. You have 3.7 million followers on Instagram. Does that make you feel strong?
Of course, I don’t walk in the way of that. I’m just so happy. Because there is a huge support from there.
Is there an interesting comment that you can't forget, do you ever look at your DMs or something?
Of course, I try to look at the comments, especially on Twitter and so on. There are very good comments. They are a huge motivator.
Do you see criticism? Does criticism lower your mood?
Of course, there is a lot of criticism. Actually, it was lowering my mood at first, but there are so many comments of support… If I’m going to spend time, I try to look at nice comments and respond to them. “I can’t waste my time with them,” I say.
Do you have an obsessive temperament?
In general, I am an obsessive person. I’m not a laid-back person at all. I’m a perfectionist. I have obsessions in that respect.
What do you think will be left if we remove from your life? (Excluding family)
This question is actually a difficult one. I can say something like this; If I say something like, “I can never live without it, I can’t breathe without it,” life actually shows you how you can go on without them. Whenever I said “I can’t do without it”, it somehow disappeared from my life and I was able to move on. Somehow you find that strength, somehow you find something to hold on to. That’s why I don’t have an answer.
Do you consider yourself beautiful?
Yes.
Do you have any plastic surgery operation?
I don’t have a plastic surgery, I don’t plan to have it done. Only my teeth were a little bad, so braces treatment was applied. My teeth just straightened. Either everyone looks alike. Of course, I’m not angry with those who do plastic surgery, I don’t have such a right, but everyone is really similar.
Are you a jealous person?
I’m so jealous. People often say “I’m not jealous, I’m confident”, but I don’t think it’s related to self-confidence. Because if it’s a person you love very much, you might be jealous that their focus is actually on something else. You want to have their attention all the time, you know.
Are you stingy?
I’m frugal. I’m not wasteful. I pay attention how to spend.
What do you spend the most money on?
I spend it on food.
Can you give us an important confession?
I don’t like to share my thoughts and my privacy. I can say that. I’m the secret box. Even the fact that I’m here is a big deal for me. It feels like I’m living in such a world. I don’t get a lot of people there, and I don’t want it to be too well-known. I want to be known for my profession, my talents, my achievements, and my acting. It seems very unnecessary to me to know everything about a person’s private life.
