Biography: Ozan Akbaba was born on June 9, 1982 in Kars, Turkey. He graduated from Akdeniz University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Due to his interest in acting, he started acting and took part in theatre plays during his education. In 2005, he stepped into his acting career with the television series Broken Wings (Kirik Kanatlar), and after that, he took part in TV series and film projects. He reached large audiences and was loved very much with the character of ‘Ilyas Cakirbeyli’ in the television series Bandit Doesn’t Rule the World (Eskiya Dunyaya Hukumdar Olmaz), which started in 2015 and continued for 6 seasons. Ozan Akbaba was also interested in music and started to create his own music compositions. At the same time, he opened a workshop on architecture because he received his education in this field. He created, wrote, and starred in the movie ‘Anka’ and ‘Cirak’. He continues to portray the character of ‘Cihan’ in ‘Far City’, one of the most popular works of the 2024-2025 season.

From the interview with Ozan Akbaba

What was the turning point of your professional life for you?

It became a daily soap opera called Secrets of Heaven (Cennetin Sirlari). That television series is at the beginning of all my steps. It is the project that taught me the meaning of the experience.

Do you have any other interests besides acting?

I like to make soundtracks, adapting them for scenes. And I write in the shadow of my pen. I’m relaxed. Because creating in every sense satisfies the soul…

Which project were you most excited to take part in?

All Projects have their own place. Because each project has a separate set and set workers. Each project’s type is different and varies frequently due to its nature. All of them add different experiences and pleasures.

What is your life plan from now on? What do you want to see yourself in?

I want to see myself respectable in the acting profession and a little close to the highest level I can reach.

Are you self-critical about yourself?

Of course! Most of the time, it’s every moment or after every project, after every acting. I ask myself, “Did it happen or not? If so, how much of it happened, and if not, what was the reason?” Isn’t life itself about self-criticism?

How do you feel when you watch a role you play on the screen?

I look at myself in terms of criticism. Everyone wants to see that they are suitable for what they do. Everyone’s only goal is to be successful. That’s why whenever I look at myself, I always try to see how competent I am. This is because my success in my next job is hidden in the mistakes I’ve made in the previous one or in the new foundations and details I’ve learned.

Stage or screen?

They are both individually special. Not without both.

We know that you have composed music for 25 short films.

It’s a talent that comes from the family. My sister and uncle are especially very good with music. I think it has passed from them to me. My last professional job was the soundtrack of the movie Absolute Justice (Mutlak Adalet), in which I played the lead role. There are those people who say they can’t imagine life without music, and I am one of them.
